REPORTING & DASHBOARDS
Tableau Consulting
Dashboards that show you what’s driving the business, built for the people who have to act on it.
Sound familiar?
It’s accurate, and nobody opens it
This is what we get called about most. The data’s right, the refresh works, and people still email an analyst for a one-off export.
Every dashboard shows everything
Forty filters, six tabs, no point of view. When a dashboard tries to answer every question, people can’t find the one they came for.
The board deck is assembled by hand
Someone loses three days a quarter to it. By the time it’s read, the numbers have moved.
Built by someone who left
Calculated fields nobody documented, extracts refreshing at 4am for reasons lost to history, a workbook called final_v3_USE_THIS. It works well enough that nobody’s willing to be the one who breaks it.
What we do
Dashboards built from scratch, starting with what you need to decide and working backwards
Executive and operational reporting shaped around the decisions your leaders actually make
Data models and sources that reconcile and refresh without supervision
Design and UX work: hierarchy, color, layout, and cutting whatever isn’t pulling its weight
Customer-facing reporting, with row-level security so each client sees only their own data
Tableau Cloud and Server setup, permissions, governance
Training and documentation so your team can build the next one themselves
Design is what clients name most often when they explain why they called. Tableau will let you build almost anything, which is how so much Tableau work ends up cluttered. Getting it right isn’t decoration. It’s the difference between a dashboard somebody reads and one they close.
Case studies
TheKey
TheKey provides in-home senior care, so staffing is the business. Too few caregivers in a market and you turn work away. Too many and you’re paying for people to sit idle.
We built executive Tableau dashboards that show where demand is running ahead of supply, so they can hire into the markets that need it and ease off in the ones that don’t. Alongside those, reporting on which marketing spend produces leads that actually convert, and sales views showing which reps are performing and which need coaching. None of it is customer-facing. It exists so the people running the business make better calls.
Structurely
Structurely’s AI agents qualify leads by call, text and email. Their customers wanted a clearer view of how those agents were performing, and the reporting they had was at the end of what it could do.
We rebuilt the pipelines underneath and redesigned the dashboards. They sit in Structurely’s client portal now, filtered automatically so each customer sees their own data based on their login.
Clients can see the conversion uplift for themselves, which makes renewal conversations a great deal easier. Structurely turned the whole suite into an additional revenue stream.
Career Now Brands
Career Now Brands runs an AI-powered recruiting system and wanted their customers to be able to see how it performs. Tableau wasn’t a skill set they carried on the team, and it wasn’t one they wanted to hire for full time.
We built the customer-facing suite, and we still work with them on it in a fractional capacity.
How we work
Assess
We start with a free working session. You show us what you’ve got and what isn’t working, and we map the gap. No obligation, and you’ll leave with something useful either way.
Build
Fixed scope, fixed price, clear timeline. Most first projects run three to four weeks.
Enable
We train your team and document what we built. The goal is for you to run it without us.
Questions we get asked
Our dashboards are accurate but nobody uses them. Is that a Tableau problem?
Almost never. It’s usually a design problem. The dashboard answers a question nobody asked, or answers eight at once, or takes nine seconds to load and people gave up on it in week two. We start by watching how people try to use it.
Can you embed Tableau in our product?
We’ll build the reports and set up the row-level security so each customer only sees their own data. The embedding itself is your developers’ job. We’ll work alongside them on what the reports need to do, but we’re not writing code inside your application.
Tableau or Power BI?
Same job, different strengths. Tableau gives us more design freedom and more room for analysts to poke around. Power BI wins on license cost and on integration if you’re already on Microsoft. We build in both and neither pays us a referral.
Is Tableau only worth it if the reporting goes to customers?
No. Most of our Tableau work is internal: executive dashboards, operations, sales performance. Customer-facing is one use, not the main one.
Cloud or Server?
Both. New work mostly goes to Cloud. If you’re on Server we can work with it, though we’d want to understand why you’re there before suggesting a move. Sometimes there’s a good reason.
The dashboards on your site use sample data. Can we see real work?
Those use Tableau’s Superstore sample data, because client data isn’t ours to publish. They’re there so you can click around and judge the design and the interaction. On a call we’ll walk you through real engagements properly.
Starting fresh, or starting over?
Both are good places to begin. Book a free working session, show us what exists or describe what you want, and we’ll tell you how we’d approach it.
